Congrats to everyone who raced Sugar Land and Millican! We had lots of first time racers and all first time racers were first time finishers! Every Lady Maroon who's started a race has taken a podium spot this year! Rad!
One week until our 3rd race of 2025 on March 8th! Reveille Peak Ranch in Burnet. This race will be one of the more technical races of the season and our riders will feel at home in the rocky, punchy terrain at RPR. This is an event with both North and South conferences.
March 22nd - Our 4th race is at the very fun Sacket Family ranch in Troy. This is a flowy track with some punchy hills, some fun features, and lots of very spectator-friendly viewing. Bring the whole family, they'll get to see you shred! This is an event with both North and South conferences. NO PETS allowed!
As of the Millican race, our Middle School Composite Team is ranked #1 in the state! Incredible shredders on their way to world domination!
Petition due dates are coming fast now, one week before each race. Make sure you're on it early if you're thinking about a move.
POD upgrades must go through the POD petition process. Athletes can not just decide to ride in a higher POD. PODs are for safety, not speed. We do not anticipate any more POD moves for the remainder of the year.
Parents - help fill all of our volunteer spots. Y'all know the camping and food is awesome - be a part of it!
Everyone - at these races be sure to take pictures and upload them to the gallery. The better the pictures, the more riders we attract year-over-year. Buy some pictures, support the league, and then upload them for us all to see!
Follow our Insta, YouTube, and join our Strava Club. Do it meow!

This month, we’re spotlighting ‘W' - Water .
As the summer approaches, we want to make sure that everyone is riding with enough water. Besides it being a NICA requirement to be able to race, we want all our riders to be properly hydrated. Speak with your parents or coaches about recommendations for electrolyte suppliments as we approach the hotter months of the season.
Let's take a beat to look back at 2 pretty epic weekends
This venue was under 4" of snow the week before the race, so most of the trail was unusable. That said, NICA managed to find about 1/2 mile of mostly dry trail to supplement the 5+ miles of road. Our middle and high school teams turned in great races, everyone finished (many first time racers!), and our team meal and hang time was top notch. A great first race!
Austin High ranked 5th in the state, Austin High Composite Middle School ranked 3rd in the state Results
What a wild weekend this was! Waking up Saturday morning to icy rain and doors frozen shut. The Maroons secured a prime spot under about 600 square feet of covered shelter. The weather was crazy so middle school racing was moved to Saturday. Then it was cancelled, then it was tacked onto the back of high school categories on Sunday. Choas - but at least everyone got to race!
The weekend turned out to be epic nonetheless. Team time, fire-pit time, meal-time, and racing were all excellent. Images from the race are pretty insane!
Austin High ranked 9th in the state, Austin High Composite ranked 11th in the state, Austin High Composite Middle School ranked 1st in the state. Results
Besides our usual Greenbelt shenanigans, we will continue to focus on venue-specific techniques. Rocky climbs and loose, fast corners for Reveille, and punchy, technical climbs for Troy.
The work for the final stretch is beginning. We will be solidifying our base and tweaking our cornering and rock technique over the coming months.
We will also start looking towards building towards the State Championship race. It'll be at Reveille Peak Ranch - a venue that suits our riders well and has some of the best camping in the state.
It's FUNdraising season!
Our AHS Maroons Team / NICA TX Fundraiser is live now through May 4! Find your name and share it with friends and family!
100% of funds raised go back to teams and student athletes. Our team keeps 50%, with remaining funds going to grants and scholarships.
Grand prize is a TREK SUPERCALIBER SL9.7 mountain bike. Incentives for athlete participation include drawings for Gear Bags, Gift Baskets and a SuperCaliber Trek bike.
February's coach's ride took us into the Greenbelt and through Mirkwood. Rounded up the ride back at Doc's for some chat.
March is super busy, hit Thad up with a suggestion for time for a ride or gathering of some sort. Not much time in March except the 30th? Bueller? Bueller?
Coaches, be sure to take advantage of the Weather and Maps links on the site when deciding where to ride. The Weather page saw a BIG uptick in usage with the Millican race, haha.
Keep an eye on our riders, we're looking at race results and practice performance for POD arrangement and progression. Let leadership know if you have thoughts.
