Maroons start of the year time trial is coming up November 1st - Get stoked!
NICA Central Regionals are on November 8th and 9th. Registration is first-come first-served and starts at 12:15 am (midnight) on August 25th. High school only race, although other ages can participate in non-race activities. Athletes must be FULLY registered in Pitzone by November 1 to participate in Regionals. If you fail to register by November 1, even if you got one of the limited spots at regionals, your spot will be revoked.
Season Opener - North/South race - January 31st!
Coaches and Parents. Take a moment to consider how you'll volunteer this year and reach out to the team so we can factor in your contribution. Level 3 Coach? Volunteer for the board? Race-day positions? Step up and be a bigger part of this upcoming year and make it great!

We really appreciate everyone taking the time to help the team grow. We had 11 athletes, 9 coach-parents, 2 coaches, and 9 parents take the survey. Most questions were a 1 to 5 with 5 being positive. 2 questions are outliers from that scheme:
NICA courses question, it received a very low score (2.5) but it meant that NICA courses were appropriate: " NICA race courses are different than where we practice. Do you think they're too easy, too hard or just right".
The other 3 score was that most athletes wanted 3 practices...
Some notable results:
Overall vibe of the team is a 4.8 out of 5.
All athletes that didn't graduate are planning to return
PODS were liked and understood
Zilker got low scores for practices and drive time while TC got high scores for practices and drive time
Communication seems good and costs seem fine

TORS
TORS
The Texas Off-Road Race Series hosted by Trek (September 21 - November 16) is offering some pretty cool benefits for NICA athletes and coaches.
NICA coaches and student-athletes receive a 25% discount on race registration.
Student-athletes who participate in 3 or more TORS races, will have their registration fees donated back to their NICA team!
There are 2 races in the Austin area, one at Warda and one just past the Austin Airport in Dale at the Rally Ready race track. If you race one of the other races, your entry fees will come back to the Maroons!
Do note, however, that as with ALL races and race series we mention that are not specifically on the NICA calendar you can expect no support, no coaching, and un-sanitized courses. I.E. - these are likely to be more difficult and have dangerous features that are not usually seen on a NICA course. TORS is a non-NICA event and falls squarely within these caveats.
