So, you want to keep racing but the NICA season is over? You'll need to find somewhere to race. These are a few of the local race series you can start with. When you're there, talk to the other racers to get a line on other races and upcoming events. Remember, off-season is up to you. If you want to race, you have to do the work to find the teams, races, and competition.
TMBRA - Texas Mountain Bike Racing Association. They have a spring and fall series. They also have a Marathon series
USAC - USA Cycling. The governing body for cycling in the USA.
Cross country is what we race in NICA. However, these courses are going to be twice as long and at least twice as difficult.
Enduro combines racing downhill with pedaling back up! Good for fitness, great for handling, super fun. Armor up if you want to win.
Downhill racing is fun and fast. You'll want to armor up and subscribe to the Pre-ride, Re-ride, Free-ride school of thought for this dicipline.
Gravel racing is the newest dicipline in cycling and is growing fast. Start with Capital City and start asking questions about events near you. You can do this on a mountain bike.
Driveway - The Driveway series is a great way to keep up the training and race chops all year long. Beginners can get a mentor who will ride with them in the pack and teach them how to race a criterium. Crit racing is fast, fun, and can be dangerous (like downhill racing but not at all). Road bike required.
Most people race privateer style, buy you can also join a team. Here are a few local teams/clubs that take juniors. These teams have different application windows, different requirements, etc. You'll need to investigate and reach out to these teams if you want to join up.
