Joining Austin High School Mountain Bike Team (AHS) has a few steps. This is because our team is an entity within Texas NICA and you will need to join both AHS and Texas NICA.
Review the AHS Team Handbook. You are expected to read, understand, and acknowledge this handbook.
Review the NICA Handbook. All rules and codes of conduct consisting of but not limited to: no headphones or cell phones while riding, no caffeine for riders, and infraction consequences. You are expected to read, understand, and acknowledge this handbook
Complete the AHS Team Rider information sheet and pay for the team
If more than one rider in the family, complete each rider separately. We need each rider's information, but the team fee is per family. You will, however, need to purchase a jersey for each additional member of the family.
Once AHS has received your Rider information sheet and $275 team fee we will send you an invitation to the next step, PitZone.
We ask that our all riders pay promptly including the NICA fees as this is required to be 'Ride Ready'. If a rider decides that NICA is not for them before the end of November, we will reimburse the team fees. NICA fees are non-refundable.
Register with NICA in PitZone. The final step within PitZone is to pay the $350 season fee to NICA Texas. Once paid, you're 'Ride Ready'.
Order your kit by November 3rd (2024 store link). You MUST have a team jersey to participate at any of the NICA Texas weekends. You order and pay for your own clothing. The team then reimburses you up to $70 per family membership. You can select ship to Home or ship to Team. If ship to Team, we get one large order and then distribute
Install the TeamSnap App when the invite is received (after PitZone is complete). This App is designed for riders and parents. Your rider doesn't have to have access to the app as long as someone in the family is monitoring it. You will be required to mark your attendance for each ride in TeamSnap.
An excellent source of up-to-date information is the TX NICA website and specifically, the events page.
