All TC HOA residents are invited to come ride with us on December 21st to see the holiday lights in the neighborhood and celebrate the season with your neighbors! We're going to ride a great route and are hosting Cheer Stops across the neighborhood with cookies, hot chocolate, and prizes. We'll meet at Hilltop Recreational area at 4:30 to decorate helmets and bikes with fairy lights and ride out around 5:45. There will be a drink truck with hot cocoa and coffee for everyone to stay warm and energized!
This year the Austin High School Mountain Bike Team will bring seasoned leadership to the ride, providing cycling coaches and trained riders to help break up and chaperone the ride through our beautiful neighborhood! Coaches are certified through the National Interscholastic Cycling Association and/or USA Cycling. Most coaches are CPR and First Aid trained. Austin High Athletes will also assist in keeping groups together and safe. All AHS riders who will be assisting have experience riding with and managing groups of varying size and ability.
The route will meander through TC and Regents and folks are invited to sample as little or as much as they like. We will post a GPS beacon the night of so people can find us easily at any point of the ride. All ages are welcome, note however that the ride's anticipated average speed will be a conversational 10mph. That's not fast, but our younger neighbors may start to slow down after a Cheer Stop or 2. Pro-tip - there are a lot of cul-de-sacs, so if you want to wait at the entrance/exit you can always catch a break that way.
The route will be divided by Cheer Stops, each proceeded by about 4 miles of riding. We should be at each Cheer Stop for ~15 - 20 min. Just enough time to get some cocoa, dispense some prizes, and meet some new neighbors! We should be done by approximately 9 pm. We're giving away prizes for your bikes along with a gift card or 2 to a local restaurant at each stop. Last year we gave away over $600 in prizes at the Cheer stops. Don't miss out! The route will hit all the high points (figuratively and literally) in the neighborhood!
What to bring:
Helmets are required
A bike in good working order (if you need a tune-up, tell Trek Lamar that AHS MTB team sent ya!)
Bicycle lights are not required but strongly recommended.
Hats off to the Social Committee for coming through with funds for all the goodies. Hope to see everyone there!
